Neuroscience Of The First Latch: A Deeper Look For Doulas, (Online Class)

Cost: $75
*This is a Zoom Class and it will be recorded and the link sent to all registered participants.

In this class you will learn motor, autonomic, behavioral, and attention state regulation as it pertains to the first newborn activity: latching. We will also cover all the infant reflexes including when they develop in utero, when they integrate, and and how they are used in the first latch. The class will also include the properties of a good latch including a catchy acronym that will be easy to remember in those first moments after birth. You will leave this class with tools to help your families set the foundation for a healthy feeding relationship for years to come.

Emily Spaeth is a doctor of physical therapy specializing in infant neuromotor development, and mama of two babies. She is a certified breastfeeding specialist, trauma informed professional and certified in neonatal massage. As a prenatal and postpartum yoga teacher, Emily has experienced the incredible benefits of community in the fourth trimester- the simple act of new mamas coming together to share their fears, sorrows, joys, and successes. She is honored to have the opportunity to stand by your side throughout this journey.
